2016 Viognier- Sol Sister

Elerding and Antoine Creek Vineyards- Columbia Valley

Viognier grapes love the heat  - these grapes originate in the Rhone Valley - and love Columbia Valley. Similar in profile to Chardonnay, Viognier has a little more minerality and citrus - tangerine and almond favors. Viognier in general and this 2016 has hints of honeysuckle and rosewater - delicate and lovely - you know you are drinking something special from beginning to end.  This wine has won numerous Double Gold Medals in wine competitions, you can't miss. Plus you give to an amazing organization for each bottle sold!

2015 Grenache

Weinbau Vineyard-Wahluke Slope

Grenache is Washington's answer to Pinot Noir - they love a duck breast, a rich pate, or lamb chops with rosemary and new potatoes.

This Grenache opens like a benediction -  aromas of crushed cherry on a sunny day and spring rhubarb pie are delicately framed by seasoned barrel aging. The entry is vibrant and powerful, which leads to luscious flavors of wild strawberry that perfectly rounds out the mid-palate. Flavors of candy apple, cranberry, vanilla and a bit of anise notes coalesce to form an intense lasting finish.

The Wahluke Slope follows the Columbia River from Vernita to Vantage in Grant County, and  has one of the driest, warmest climates in the state, allowing nearly complete control of vine vigor and ripening through irrigation. Expansive and dramatic, it is a calming drive along the river and rocky shoreline.

The Grenache grapes for the Sol Stone 2015 Columbia Valley grow in this very Rhone like terroir, as do the hint of Syrah Buzz the Winemaker added to his blend.

Grenache is a treat - and pair your food wisely  - Sol Stone Grenache with Steelhead and Pomemes Dauphine will be a meal your friends will remember.

Our 2013 Grenache was selected by The Seattle Times as one of the top 50 wines of 2016!

2015 Syrah

Weinbau and Upland Vineyards-Wahluke Slope

One of those rich flavored wines that tastes like an exotic vacation - scents, colors, and flavors swirl in the glass - the mineral structure and spice notes coming from these grape enjoys some of the warmest growing temperatures - whether in the Southern rocky parts of France and Spain or along the Columbia near Mattawa. Orange, turmeric, peppers, and velvet red grapes are soulmates with a couscous of nuts, rice, and sausages - and Syrah loves a good poulet roti - or rotisserie chicken!

2014 Stoners Red

Weinbau, Upland and Stillwater Creek Vineyards

This is a wine that pleases a crowd - cherry juice sweetness balanced with plum and pepper, and hints of vanilla - there is nothing not to love about this wine. And it loves a good burger and chips as much as anyone does! The soft tannins of the Syrah blend well with the Grenache from Weinbau Vineyard polished off with Stillwater Creek Mourvedre.  Definitely, an every day plus special occasion wine!

2015 Grateful Red

Dionysus and Bacchus Vineyards-Columbia Valley

This solidly pleasing red wine is smooth berry based with hints of pepper and tobacco. Grateful Red weaves together Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache and Petit Verdot for a structured tannic wine that loves a creamy pasta or burger with cheese. It begins with a vibrant and powerful note, dense plum and blueberry, which leads to luscious flavors of blackberry that perfectly rounds out the mid-palate.

The grapes come from the Bacchus, Dionysus Vineyards. This terroir is the joyfully hot north-east side of the Columbia River - the ancient rocks create a warm breeze filled with happy summer days and cooler evening.  Pairs well with firm flavored foods - a sirloin steak topped with tarragon butter tops the list.

2015 Tempranillo

Upland Vineyards- Snipes Mountain

Previous Vintage Awards: Double Gold Medal-Seattle Wine Awards 2016, Gold Medal Tri-Cities Wine Festival

Tempranillo is Spain’s most widely panted grape for over 2,000 years and one taste of this full bodied wine will tell you why.  Our 2015 Tempranillo starts with a hint of caramel and plum in the nose, tasting with plenty of fruit, most predominantly black raspberry contrasting with a bit of smoke and tobacco. Round, flinty with lush, tamed tannins provided by the small amount of Merlot and Petit Verdot with a lingering finish that you'll want more!  Conventional wisdom says serve this wine with less spicy dishes and let the wine provide the sparkle.
