Weinbau and Stillwater Vineyards Columbia Valley AVA
60% Grenache-40% Syrah
92 Points The Wine Panel- Gold Medal Bellingham NW Wine Festival
Stoners Red is usually a GSM (blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre') but this year we left off the M as it wasn't needed. The intensity of both varieties give this wine bold flavors and richness and nothing else was needed. The grapes meld together producing a complex bouquet of violets, boysenberries and black olive.
"While the fun name of Stoner's Red implies there may not be much going on other than a fun wine, we had no idea what it was called when tasting it blind and assumed it was around $45. The wine is elegant and balanced, and with the integrated, fine tannins, it drinks like a polished, expensive wine. Made from 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah from Weinbau and Stillwater Creek Vineyards, this small production Rhone style blend is young but approachable now. Ripe, but not over ripe. Rich, but not heavy." 92 Points in the $25-$35 Category - The Wine Panel.
