Stillwater Creek Vineyards-Royal Slope AVA
92 Points-The Wine Panel
Chardonnay is a winemaker’s grape. When introduced to oak barrels, all that lush pear and citrus round out into lemon chiffon pie, caramelized like crème brûlée. Baking spices of nutmeg and clove tip this towards a peach crisp finish screaming for a rich, buttery side of seafood. Scallops, crab cakes, triple cream cheese. Done.
"The judges enjoyed this medium versus-full bodied Chardonnay - it's delicious and very balanced. Rather than being over-oaked and buttery, this is a much more lean style with just enough oak. Yes, it was barrel-fermented, but in neutral barrels, and doesn't have that deep dark gold color, but more of a pale yellow. Expect notes of yellow apples, white peach, and stone fruit, with a pleasant, soft finish. And easy drinking Chard that could bring some back to this varietal." The Wine Panel
